I recently joined a conversation between a Satanist, and a Christian. It became evident to me right away that both were confused about what Scripture says concerning Satan, rebuke, judgment, and condemnation. This blog post is from my response to them both, and I just thought it was good information for those that might be in this trap, and not even know they are in a trap.
Satanist: ” According to the bible, all Satan was guilty of was defying god with the intention of benefiting mankind. If Adam and eve never ate the fruit, we’d all b mindless, unaware, primitive savages today”
Well, this is ironic. It’s also backwards.
I don’t preach, simply because teaching, and open dialog is much better, and I rarely post scripture to atheist. I also have to ask if you are an atheist, because I don’t think you are.
First of all, let me commend you on one thing. People are quick to accuse Satan of wrong doing. I am a Christian, but will be the first person that will tell you that most Christians do not follow instructions very well, and “study” the text.
“study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.(Tim 2:15 KJV)
Hear are two other verses, and no, hear is not misspelled:
“Better is open rebuke than hidden love.” Proverbs 27:5
“But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” Jude 1:9
First of all, note that this judgment and condemnation is blasphemous.
I won’t bore everyone with the whole spill, (any more than this 😀 ) but I just wanted to let you know you have inspired my next blog topic. Here I just want to point out that most people have condemned Satan as an evil doer (people in general, Christians, Atheist, and everything in between). This is not Scripture, and I have a duty to tell Christians what the consequences of doing this are, and the consequences are grave. I’ll post the blog when it’s finished in a little while if anyone wants to read it, but for now I am just going to remind people that rebuke in scripture is always out of love for the rebuked, and is done so that the rebuked will understand that they have not “crossed any line”, and so that they will not condemn themselves…because God has not.
I’ll leave you with this for now:
2nd Peter 2:10-12 (KJV)
“and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed,…”
Those that judge Satan, and condemn Satan, judge themselves, and condemn themselves.
This is a conversation that inspired me to do a teaching on Revelation 13:18, and the mark of the beast. I will post it today as well. This passage, and especially the number 666 is widely misunderstood, and often thought of as “the ‘bad’ number”. People have developed a taboo, and will try to “avoid” connection to the number. When they learn they already have this number, they may be surprised.
